French and English Tutor, All Levels

Madeline L.

I am a postgraduate student pursuing my teaching certification in K-12 French through an intensive teacher training program. During the 2025-2026 school year, I taught English conversation classes and a phonology course to undergraduates at a university in France and passed the DALF C1 exam (Diplôme approfondi de langue française).

In May 2025, I graduated magna cum laude with a degree in French and English and a minor in Education. My junior year, I spent a semester studying abroad in Aix-en-Provence, France, where I took courses entirely in French and lived with a local host family. My senior year, I was awarded a departmental prize for scholarship in French.

During college, I worked as a teaching assistant in the French department, supporting professor and students in an advanced French literature course. I helped students understand difficult course texts, offered feedback recommendations for essays, and coached students on oral presentation skills. Additionally, for three years, I volunteered weekly in a multilingual classroom at a local high school, providing academic support and translation help to students who spoke French as a first language and were learning English. As part of a course called Teaching and Learning Languages and Cultures, I taught weekly French lessons at a local elementary school. I have worked with both elementary- and high school-aged students in tutoring roles, and I have experience working with students with language- and attention-based learning disabilities.

As a tutor, I am enthusiastic about working with beginning through advanced students. I am happy to help with vocabulary, grammar, writing, reading and listening comprehension, or all of the above! Whether you are learning French in school or preparing for a trip to a French-speaking country, I look forward to supporting your language learning.
