Hi, my name's Hannah! I graduated from Montserrat College of Art in December of 2016 with a BFA (Bachelor of Fine Arts) in Illustration.
I believe that artists should share their knowledge freely, helping each other on our own unique paths to proficiency, and for that reason I am excited to share my knowledge with you in any way I can. I want to encourage artists to think smartly and take initiative in their pursuits, so that they can continue to grow beyond just any short time with them I share. I focus on craft over concept, as even the best concept is useless without the ability to convey it effectively.
I'm fairly new to tutoring but I do have several years of experience leading Sunday school lessons at different churches, working as a camp counselor at Fair Haven Camps in Brooks, ME which involved leading kids in group activities and crafts, and volunteering to teach after-school art lessons at Cobbet Elementary in Lynn, MA. I am best and most experienced working with middle and elementary age students, but anyone of any age able to hold a brush is welcome!
My specialty is Acryla gouache, but I am also skilled in Adobe Suite; all gouache, acrylic, and watercolor paints; as well as charcoal, conte crayon, graphite, ink/inkwash, collage, and other drawing media. Of course I also have extensive knowledge of other practical artistic tools and tips, including sketchbooks, brush care, storing artwork, and finding inspiration.
I also studied plein air landscape painting in Italy during the summer of 2016 via Montserrat's study abroad program in Viterbo, and would be excited to do outdoor painting tutorials.
