With mathematics being a passion of mine, I find it important to ensure that my students understand the concepts involved over the strategy of rote memorization that I have encountered in my own learning experiences.
I have gained much experience in tutoring over the last two years, helping my fellow college students with the math courses I have taken on a weekly basis. With the beginning of the pandemic, I learned how to continue tutoring online and still maintain the same outcomes I had while in person. I additionally work as a math instructor at a local math tutoring program for K-12 students as my primary employment. These experiences combined, have allowed me to hone my tutoring skills whether it be with a middle schooler or a working adult.
Perhaps the most important aspect of my tutoring style that students have appreciated, is my drive to teach the material that students need to know. In many cases, the reading material given to students can be disorganized or indirect in teaching students the key information they need to succeed. Thanks to my knowledge of the material and with the aid of course syllabi and objectives, I can ensure students are gaining this critical information, by teaching these concepts myself. It is my philosophy that tutoring should be as much about teaching the material and making it clearer to the student, in addition to then helping them understand how to solve the problems they encounter.
I have experience tutoring the entire standard college Calculus sequence, from Single-Variable Calculus to Multi-Variable Calculus.
