I'm a pre-medical graduate with a strong foundation in biological sciences, passionate about helping students build real understanding rather than memorize just enough to pass a test. I hold a B.S. in Biology (Neurobiology and Physiology) from the University of Maryland and recently completed a Master's Program in Biomedical Sciences at Georgetown University, with graduate coursework in physiology and pathophysiology, endocrinology, reproductive biology, GI physiology, renal physiology, and pharmacology. This gives me the range to teach anything from intro biology to dense, systems-based physiology.
I've also worked directly with students as a Lab Teaching Assistant for Georgetown, teaching in Patient Simulator, Gross Anatomy, and Surgery and Suturing labs. There, I broke down complex clinical and anatomical concepts for students at different levels, built teaching materials from scratch, and adjusted my explanations based on what actually helped each student understand. I've also worked as a medical assistant in a clinical setting, which gives me a practical lens for topics like hormone regulation or fluid balance that can otherwise feel abstract.
My approach starts with figuring out whether a struggle is conceptual, a knowledge gap, or a test taking strategy, since each needs a different fix. I use analogies, diagrams, and practice problems, and I have students explain concepts back in their own words to fill in gaps they may not understand.
