I am an certified Orton Gillingham tutor. I specialize in teaching children with language based learning disabilities. The Orton Gillingham method is a multi-sensory method that teaches children how to read. I love to learn how kids think so I can customize the lessons so the kids learn the way that's best for them. Kids learn through games and activities that help them to incorporate language skills into all facets of learning.
I am also qualified to tutor your student in all of his or her K through 8th grade subjects, including all aspects of English, grammar, phonics, vocabulary and writing; as well as math and science. I work frequently as a substitute teacher at a school for children with Dyslexia, ADHD, and other language disabilities.
Personally I have 4 children, 2 of whom have learning differences. I homeschooled 3 of my children through middle school, two of whom are currently high school now and receiving quarterly honors for their excellent grades. Please check out my profile and see how I can help your child love to learn!

So Far this summer, my daughter has enjoyed her tutoring with Regina. She is very patient with her and has made her sessions "fun". I look forward to working with her into the school year so that my daughter will have less struggles in middle school.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

I currently home-school 6th and 7th grade. My experience includes teaching vocabulary, phonics, grammar, writing and reading comprehension. As a mother to 4 children I have been helping children with reading, proofreading and writing papers for 14 years. I have completed writing workshops that emphasize, organization and writing. I am also an Orton Gillingham certified tutor.
In the Fall of 2013 I completed the Handwriting without Tears K-through 5th workshop. In the workshop teachers are trained to use multisensory strategies, lessons, and practical ideas to teach printing and cursive skills that promote a love of writing. Teachers are also taught to recognize common handwriting problems and apply simple, effective remediation techniques. Using these techniques and specialized manipulatives I am able to help students to learn to write or improve their writing.
