Since 1982, I have worked (as an informal/volunteer tutor) with elementary-to-college students and professionals to build skills in math, science, or systems and reliability-related disciplines. I have helped students and professionals build confidence and mastery through specialized training, lesson review, concept clarification, project/homework guidance, and professional/academic mentoring for many years in the subject areas of Mathematics (Algebra, Geometry, Calculus, and Statistics), Science (Physics, Earth Science, and Engineering principles), Reliability analysis (FMECA, FTA, Bayesian predictions, Life assessment, and Modeling), Model-Based mission assurance and simulation, and STEM Tools & Automation (Excel, Data Analysis, Modeling Tools, and more).

My approach to tutoring is to assist others to understand simple and complex concepts with targeted tutoring, mentoring, and training that empowers learners to succeed. I use a explanations coupled with tutor-learner step by step solution and understanding finding and reinforcement. I believe that finding the solutions together (with expert guidance) is the best way to enhance the learning experience versus lecturing or excessive guidance. Simply put my tutoring uses team (tutor and learner) discovery (and guided experimentation) to allow the learner to learn and to find the joy in learning now and in the future.

I hold a B.S. in Computer Science & Aeronautical Engineering - Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, M.S. in Space Studies - University of North Dakota, and am Topgun/Flight Training certifications - US Navy.
