Hi, I'm Dr. Dominick D., and I can help you or your child with your next challenging class or project! My approach to mentorship and tutoring is to pinpoint your biggest obstacles, explain the information in a way you can understand, and give helpful tips that you can use beyond the session. Each learner has a unique journey and learns best with a sharp-eyed tutor who tailors lessons to fit the student. I strive to be that tutor!

I teach adult learners of English as an ESL instructor for community colleges, and I mentor students at levels, primarily those in SLP programs taking classes on research methods or adult neurogenic disorders. Previously, I taught public speaking to high school and college students at BCCC as well as biology labs and anatomy/physiology at Penn State. I have 3 years of experience as an NIH-contracted data analytics lead focused on improving technology for health research. My education includes a biology BS, math BA, neuroscience MS, and a dual-title PhD with a specialty in speech-language pathology. Overall, I touch on topics in many disciplines, including biology, computer science, language, linguistics, mathematics, neuroscience, psychology, thesis writing, and statistics. I also speak Spanish and Italian, and I am adept at programming and coding, such as with Python, Java, MATLAB, HTML, and LaTeX.
Helping students means more than helping you or your child pass a test. As a mentor, I assist students who wish to develop professional skills, such as presentation skills or time management skills, in addition to content mastery. As a mental health advocate and a volunteer for STEM outreach, I provide guidance on how to navigate disability and neurodiversity in school or at work. Finally, coming from a lifelong learner who continues to learn new things, whether it be a new language or a new software tool, my ultimate goal is to cultivate students' confidence and independence so that you or your child can tackle any new subject that comes your way. I look forward to our next session!
