Hello, my name is Grant. I have received both bachelor's and a master's degrees in physics. I realized very early on during undergrad that I enjoyed not only learning but also teaching physics, so I sought out opportunities to teach throughout my education. Helping my peers figure out their homework turned into tutoring underclassmen and eventually applying for Learning Assistant and Teaching Assistant positions as I came across them. My university had a pedagogy (learning about learning) course associated with the LA program which exposed me to many different approaches and styles of learning. While these are helpful to be aware of in a classroom setting, I think this knowledge has really shined by being added to my arsenal of one-on-one teaching approaches.

My approach to tutoring is very strongly tailored to the student seeking my help. We always start by determining their current strengths and weaknesses as well as their goals. We then make an attempt to learn something new and assess how this went. If this is successful, great! If not, that is also fine because there are always multiple ways to approach a topic and I have yet to run out of them before a student has grasped a concept.

On top of needing to learn and use these tools for my own education and profession as a physicist, I have also tutored students in a wide array of math subjects. My experience ranges from helping students learn algebra for the first time to learning how to apply calculus in their college course work.

I have over a decade's worth of experience helping others learn physics. I have personally run the gamut of lab courses aimed at the undergraduate level and done one-on-one tutoring work in mechanics, electromagnetism, data analysis, and lab writing. I also have a fairly extensive background in electronics and computational work, though as of yet I have not tutored anyone in these subjects.

Please feel free to ask any questions you might have in order to determine if we are a good fit as tutor and tutee.

Knowledgeable and Dedicated

Grant did an amazing job helping my son to review for his Physics Final Exam. He ensured that all concepts were covered and had a great way to make tough concepts easy to understand. He used a lot of visuals and provided follow up notes for my son to review. I HIGHLY recommend Grant for tutoring services.

Amazing!

I am so grateful we found Grant! My son was really struggling in the online College Physics class and wasn't sure how he would do. When he worked with Grant his scores and confidence increased dramatically and he got an A on his tests AND the class! I do not believe he would have received an A without Grant's help. He needed someone who knows Physics backwards and forwards and who was also reliable and great at explaining things. We are so grateful we found Grant!!!

Really helpful and knowledgeable

He was super helpful with explaining concepts that I didn’t understand and really made sure that I could understand the ones that I struggled with by going through different versions of the same problem multiple times. Really nice and encouraging as well and would highly recommend for physics tutoring!

Amazing College Physics Tutor!!!

Where do I start. First off Grant immediately responded to a crisis physics assignment situation. His knowledge of physics and ability to teach it (starting with a needed theoretical explanation and progressively attacking the more complex equations) was on point. Grant was able to quickly assess the need and calmed all anxiety. His efficient use of time and dedication to ensuring mastery was nothing less than outstanding. I didn't know such help was available. I highly recommend Grant for any of your physics tutoring needs.

Helpful and friendly tutor

Grant tutored both my daughters in physics. He explained concepts very well and was excellent working through problems step by step. He helped my daughters prepare for tests and they found him to be very helpful.

Intelligent and Teaches well

Teaches and explains well. I’ve learned a lot in our sessions. He is quick to grasp the material I’m working on and my needs. When I struggle with a problem, he thoroughly gone over it so I do understand. His notes are also very helpful.
