Bio

I started playing chess at 4 years old, and developed a life long passion for the game. In afterschool clubs I beat many of my friends and classmates, and at home I challenged myself in games against my dad, a competent player with tournament experience. I started playing chess at 4 years old, and developed a life long passion for the game. In afterschool clubs I beat many of my friends and classmates, and at home I challenged myself in games against my dad, a competent player with tournament experience. In 2014, I used my role as an after school supervisor to share my appreciation for the game of chess with elementary school age students. I used the game to teach them the values of sportsmanship, decision making, and critical thinking; skills that help them in many facets of their young lives. I am proud to say that many of those kids continue to play chess today.

In 2016 I started teaching chess in both small group and one on one settings with players as young as five years old. In my 7+ years of experience of teaching, I have helped new players achieve their first checkmates, and more experienced young players climb up the ranks of scholastic tournaments. I love to share my enthusiasm for chess and help players take their game to the next level!

I am a terrific tutor because of my ability to break down chess concepts in ways that can be understood and applied by all students, regardless of their level. I have both run and played in many USCF rated chess events, so I know what it takes to win under pressure.

I am rated 1900 USCF, and I am a USCF tournament director.

Whether you or your child is just starting out with, or looking to get serious about chess, I have the experience and the passion to help achieve your goals.

Elementary Math

I have 3 years of experience teaching math from the Kindergarten level up to pre-algebra. I bring a lot of enthusiasm to my teaching and excel in augmenting a love of math in my students. I believe that teaching is fundamentally about effective communication, so I focus on building effective patterns of communication with students and putting them in situations where they can feel comfortable and succeed.
