As a Professor who taught at Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland, and who has tutored at the University of Michigan, I have the teaching skills necessary to tutor one-on-one. Through my years teaching and studying science as well as the Classics, I realized the most important thing is to teach our children. Lack of a Classical Education in this country has destroyed our foundation. In the past, during Greek and Roman times, sons and daughters had a personal tutor who helped them learn such subjects as: Language, Rhetoric, Law, Natural Philosophy (Basic Science), and Philosophy (Socrates, Plato, Aristotle). Because I have taught myself these things in addition to supplementation by University courses and direct one-on-one with Professors in Classics, I would like to give back and show others what I have learned. It is that important to me. The Classics often do this to people who learn them. They have a unique grasp on our imagination that has been lost due to the poor education in this country and world-wide.

I have a passion for the languages of the Classical world, that is Ancient Greek and Classical Latin. I read them on a daily basis and teach my son Latin. I also teach online Ancient Greek from the book Athenaze. I have travelled extensively in Turkey to ancient sites and know fairly well the Turkish language. My unique knowledge of the ancient world, my passion for the reception of classical knowledge (such as maxims, sayings, culture) into our own time, and my continually daily routines of reading, studying, and speaking the ancient languages make me highly qualified to teach it. Again, as a Professor who taught at Johns Hopkins and University of Maryland, I have the teaching skills necessary to do this.

Connecting classical studies with English, Latin, and Ancient Greek words with English words is very important to me. I teach my own son on a daily basis these connections. English is a mixture of many languages, thus understanding it requires understanding where it came from.

Good experience. Would use again

My Ancient Greek pronunciation was really bad and I was taking an online course with advanced pupils. He patiently drilled me on correct pronunciation. He also talked about some interesting word derivations and different accepted ways of pronouncing Ancient Greek. All together a good experience.

Great experience for my 8th grade daughter! He was exactly what she needed and was able to break down the information to a level that was helpful for her. Very thankful and pleased! We will be using Paul for the rest of this semester for sure! He was amazing!

Incredibly patient

Paul taught me how to use the subjunctive as well as reviewing basic ideas I should know. I was behind and lost in my class. I wouldn't have finished without his help.

Great Latin Tutor!!!

Paul is great!!! His passion for Latin is inspiring and motivating. Paul came prepared to work during our first session. He even brought extra materials to help my son understand a language that he is not very excited about. I was very impressed with Paul's knowledge of the subject. I highly recommend him if you are looking for some additional help learning the language.
