I am a native Korean speaker with more than 15 years of Korean-language teaching experience. I taught Korean as an adjunct instructor in a graduate school program at Johns Hopkins University. I have also taught group classes at language schools and through a Korean Embassy-affiliated language program. My students have included children, teenagers, university students, graduate students, and adult learners from diverse backgrounds.
In addition to classroom and group instruction, I have extensive experience teaching private lessons both online and in person. I have worked with complete beginners learning Hangul, intermediate and advanced learners, and heritage learners who want to strengthen their speaking, reading, and writing skills. I earned a bachelor’s degree in French Language and Literature with a minor in Education, a master’s degree in International Affairs, and a Korean language teaching certificate.
I personalize my lessons according to each student’s level, learning style, interests, and goals. Depending on the student’s needs, I use textbooks, original worksheets, visual materials, guided conversation, and practical examples from everyday life. I explain Korean grammar clearly in English and provide many opportunities for students to practice using what they have learned. My goal is to create an encouraging and engaging environment where students can improve their Korean skills and communicate with confidence.
