Denika is an incredible educator. We are fortunate we found her to tutor our eight year old son who has been struggling with phonics. She is kind, positive, fun and has the right authority to command his attention. It is so helpful that she is a teacher in the same county district that our son attends. This means she understands and is familiar with his curriculum. She is very organized and clear in her approach. She brings materials and gives us exercises to do at home with our son. And our son enjoys his sessions with Denika! His reading is improving every week. We are grateful for Denika's professionalism and kindness.
In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

As an elementary school teacher I need to be able to teach students how to study. I have to teach students how to manage their time and take the information that they hear in class and turn it into knowledge. I am knowledgeable of all elementary school subjects and also have had minors in English Literature, Social Studies, and Psychology so I also have a knowledge base that will help me be able to help students study. Being a lifelong learner myself, I also have tools and tricks that I can share that will make learning easier.
