Hi, I'm Noah. I'm a rising sophomore at Duke University studying Financial Economics and Biology, where I earned a 3.91 GPA my first year. I scored a 34 on the ACT and was admitted to every school I applied to, including Duke, Michigan, and USC. I'm offering SAT and ACT tutoring this summer for high school students who want a focused, personalized approach to test prep. Having just gone through this process myself, I understand the pressure and the strategies that actually work, not just the generic advice you hear from people who took the test decades ago.
My tutoring approach is built around the idea that every student is different. Some need to shore up content gaps in math or grammar. Some have the content down but lose points to careless mistakes and time pressure. Others struggle most with test anxiety and pacing rather than any specific subject area. In our first session, I figure out where each student actually needs to focus and build a plan from there, prioritizing the highest-leverage areas first instead of running through generic review of every topic. I've tutored younger students through National Honor Society in high school and currently teach high schoolers through First Generation Investors at Duke, a nonprofit that brings investing and financial literacy education to students in Durham. Between my recent test prep experience and ongoing work with high school students, I'm comfortable both with the material and with adapting how I teach it to different learners.
