Welcome! I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Biology and a Master of Science in Science Education, and I am a certified secondary biology and general science teacher. For over twelve years, I have worked with high school students aged 14 to 18 in a vibrant classroom setting, teaching everything from foundational Inclusion Biology to advanced Honors and AP Biology. My dedication to education was recognized with the Angeline D. Harrison Award for excellence in student teaching. Beyond the school day, I provide targeted, one-on-one and small-group tutoring through after-school credit recovery programs and as a Saturday school Lead Tutor for AP biology and chemistry students. These roles allow me to help students overcome academic hurdles and build lasting confidence.
What sets me apart is my extensive background in designing curriculum for a wide spectrum of learning needs. I have worked with gifted students as an Academic Dean and Instructor for the Johns Hopkins Center for Talented Youth, and I have developed specialized curriculum supports for English language learners. Because of this expertise, I excel at breaking down dense, challenging topics—such as genetics, ecology, and biochemistry—into digestible lessons tailored to your unique learning style and pacing. My tutoring approach focuses on inquiry-based learning, data analysis, and critical thinking rather than simple memorization. I strive to cultivate a supportive, positive environment where students feel safe to ask questions, learn from mistakes, and achieve their academic goals.
