I am new to Wyzant, but tutoring has been my full-time profession for over 18 years. I have worked one-on-one with more than 1,100 students across many ages and skill levels. If you are looking to get started soon, I can help put together a clear plan around the student’s current needs, goals, timeline, and course or test.

I earned an 800/800 on SAT Math, a 36/36 on ACT Math, and a 36/36 on ACT Science, and those scores helped me receive the Dean’s Scholarship to the University of Maryland’s Mechanical Engineering program. That experience showed me early how much strong math skills, test-taking strategy, and the right preparation can affect a student’s opportunities — and it is a major reason I built my career around helping students do the same.

There is a real difference between knowing the material and knowing how to communicate it clearly to a student at their level. I work with students who need to rebuild fundamentals, students trying to get through challenging courses, and students aiming for major score gains on standardized tests. My teaching focuses on the “why” and the “how,” not just memorizing the “what,” with explanations that are clear, down-to-earth, and adapted to the student’s current level, confidence, timeline, and goals.

For test prep, I have developed a structured and cumulative program that can be adapted to each student’s needs. The program includes assigned homework, worksheets arranged in a logical order from test-style problems, study guides, timed quizzes, mistake review, and cumulative review so students can build improvement that lasts.

I take tutoring seriously because students and parents are trusting me with time, money, and important goals. If a student is willing to work, I will give them a clear plan, honest guidance, and the structure needed to make real progress. If you are looking for help, I’d be happy to learn more about your goals and put together a clear plan to get started.

Approved Subjects

ACT Math

ACT Math

I specialize in ACT Math and Science sections (perfect 36/36 scores on both) and have tutored full-time for over the past 18 years, working one-on-one with more than 1,100 students across math courses and standardized test prep. My ACT Math approach is structured and cumulative, with assigned homework, logically ordered worksheets, study guides, timed quizzes, and cumulative reviews. Because ACT Math covers so many topics that one learns over the years, proper structure and connection of ideas become imperative in recognizing question types and avoiding careless mistakes under time pressure. I help students understand the “why” and the “how” behind each problem, not just memorize the “what.”
ACT Science

ACT Science

I specialize in ACT Science and Math sections (perfect 36/36 scores on both) and have tutored full-time for over the past 18 years, working one-on-one with more than 1,100 students across STEM courses and standardized test prep. My ACT Science approach is structured and cumulative, with assigned homework and a logical timeline. Because ACT Science is fast-paced, I focus heavily on accuracy, pacing, calculator use, recognizing question types, and avoiding careless mistakes under time pressure. I help students understand the “why” and the “how” behind each problem, not just memorize the “what.”
Algebra 1

Algebra 1

I have tutored math, science, and standardized test prep full-time for over the past 18 years (received: 800/800 SAT Math, 36/36 ACT Math, and 36/36 ACT Science), working one-on-one with more than 1,100 students. Along with my mechanical engineering background and advanced math studies, my teaching experience over the years equips me to tutor Algebra 1 with a focus on helping students build strong, organized skills that connect to later topics, including Geometry, Algebra 2, Precalculus, Calculus, Physics, standardized test performance, real problem-solving, and real-life logic. I help students strengthen topics such as solving equations, inequalities, graphing lines, slope, systems of equations, functions, exponents, polynomials, basic factoring, radicals, word problems, and translating real situations into equations. My approach is structured and patient, with clear explanations, targeted practice, and mistake review so students can build confidence and improve over time.
Algebra 2

Algebra 2

I have tutored math, science, and standardized test prep full-time for over the past 18 years (received: 800/800 SAT Math, 36/36 ACT Math, and 36/36 ACT Science), working one-on-one with more than 1,100 students. Along with my mechanical engineering background and advanced math studies, my teaching experience over the years equips me to tutor Algebra 2 with a focus on helping students build strong, organized skills that connect to later topics, including Precalculus, Calculus, Physics, standardized test performance, real problem-solving, and real-life logic. I help students strengthen topics such as functions, quadratics, factoring, rational expressions, radicals, exponents, logarithms, graphing, and word problems. My approach is structured and patient, with clear explanations, targeted practice, and mistake review so students can build confidence and improve over time.
Calculus

Calculus

I tutor Calculus by helping students understand the ideas behind limits, derivatives, integrals, and applications instead of just memorizing formulas. I received an 800/800 on SAT Math and a 36/36 on ACT Math, and my mechanical engineering background and advanced math studies give me a strong foundation for explaining Calculus clearly and practically. I help students connect the algebra, graphs, and concepts behind each problem so the work feels more organized and less overwhelming. My approach is patient and structured, with clear explanations, targeted practice, and mistake review so students can build confidence and improve over time.
Elementary Math

Elementary Math

Over the past 18 years, I have tutored more than 1,100 students (ask for references) across many levels of math and standardized tests, and I understand that success starts with strong fundamentals and helping students understand the “why” and the “how” instead of just memorizing rules and steps. Earning perfect math scores on the SAT and ACT, along with my mechanical engineering background and advanced math studies, has given me a strong appreciation for how important early math foundations are for Prealgebra, Algebra, future courses, standardized tests, and overall logical development. With students, I explain on a down-to-earth level (I never want to sound like a textbook or simply repeat what they have already heard) the topics of arithmetic, fractions, decimals, percentages, place value, measurement, word problems, basic geometry, and early problem-solving skills that set the tone for the rest of their math career. My approach is structured, patient, and clear, so students can build confidence, reduce frustration, and develop skills that will help them in the courses to come.
GED

GED

I tutor GED Math, along with many other math courses and standardized test prep, with a focus on helping students understand the “why” and the “how” behind the problems, instead of just memorizing steps. Earning perfect math scores on the SAT and ACT, along with my mechanical engineering background and advanced math studies, has given me a strong appreciation for how important fundamentals are for test success and real-life problem-solving. My approach is structured, patient, and down-to-earth, so students can reduce frustration, build confidence, and make steady progress toward passing.
Geometry

Geometry

I tutor Geometry by helping students see the logic behind diagrams, relationships, and rules instead of just memorizing formulas. As a high school freshman, I placed 2nd in a Geometry contest for students at select private high schools in the Baltimore area, which helped spark my long-term appreciation for the subject’s logic and visual reasoning. I later received an 800/800 on SAT Math, a 36/36 on ACT Math, and a 36/36 on ACT Science, and I use that same reasoning-based approach to help students understand Geometry clearly. I help students with proofs, angle relationships, similarity, congruence, circles, coordinate geometry, area, volume, and right-triangle relationships through patient, visual explanations that connect the picture, the reasoning, and the algebra.
Physics

Physics

I tutor Physics with a focus on helping students understand the ideas behind the formulas, not just plug numbers into equations. For AP Physics, I focus on AP Physics 1 and AP Physics C: Mechanics, which fit especially well with my mechanical engineering background and advanced math studies. I help students with motion, forces, energy, momentum, rotation, gravitation, simple harmonic motion, and related problem-solving. My approach is structured, patient, fun, and down-to-earth, with clear explanations instead of sounding like a textbook.
Prealgebra

Prealgebra

I tutor Prealgebra with a focus on helping students understand the “why” and the “how” behind basic math ideas, instead of just memorizing rules and steps. Earning perfect math scores on the SAT and ACT, along with my mechanical engineering background and advanced math studies, has given me a strong appreciation for how important early math foundations are for Algebra, future courses, standardized tests, and overall logical development. With students, I explain on a down-to-earth level (I never want to sound like a textbook or simply repeat what they have already heard) the topics of fractions, decimals, percentages, ratios, proportions, negative numbers, equations, exponents, word problems, and graphing basics that set the tone for the rest of their math education. My approach is structured, patient, and clear, so students can build confidence, reduce frustration, and develop skills that will help them in the courses to come.
Precalculus

Precalculus

I tutor Precalculus with a focus on helping students understand the "why" and the "how" (logic), instead of just memorizing the "what" (formulas). Earning perfect math scores on the SAT and ACT, along with my mechanical engineering background and advanced math studies through Calculus III and beyond, helps me show students how Precalculus connects to the bigger picture and why these skills matter for future courses and the development of strong logical reasoning skills that transcend any course. It is one thing to be an expert tutor in the topics (functions, transformations, polynomial and rational expressions, exponentials, logarithms, trigonometry, unit circle concepts, and graph behavior), but it's a completely different skill set to relay this knowledge to a student in need. My approach is structured and patient, with careful explanation, targeted practice, and mistake review so students can build confidence and be better prepared for Calculus, SAT/ACT Math when needed, and future coursework.
PSAT

PSAT

I scored perfect 800/800 on the SAT Math and I have written my own materials. A lot of my qualifications are already listed in the message part.
