I am an experienced aerospace engineer whose career has spanned more than four decades and who has worked mainly in the spacecraft industry. I have a Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering and a Master of Science degree in the same major. I obtained my undergraduate degree with honors and my graduate degree with high honors.
Engineering requires the application of math and science to the solution of difficult problems. It also requires a high level of communication skills because of all the collaboration with colleagues. Many of my collaborative efforts involved mentoring young engineers, which is a form of tutoring. I liked doing that, as I liked tutoring my classmates in college. And, recently, I have tutored several middle and high school students in math and science.
Now, I’d like to help more students better understand their subjects even, perhaps, by tutoring from a perspective different, perhaps more practical, than normally used. Consequently, my tutoring approach will leverage my practical experience, involve patience and, when necessary, will involve multiple ways of looking at or explaining the principles and calculations behind the subject matter.
