I have a BA in Chemistry, a BS in Environmental Science, and an AA in Persian Farsi. I assisted other service members in the USAF in maintaining and improving their language fluency by creating lesson plans and organizing study sessions. From 2013-2015 I volunteered with Living Classrooms in Baltimore, MD to teach science concepts to grades 3-8 in an after-school program called BUGS. In my time at UMBC I was a TA for CHEM101. I have worked with a range of skill levels and learning styles and can be patient and flexible in helping you achieve your learning goals.

I really enjoyed my experience at UMBC and was top of my class for chemistry, organic chemistry, biology, biochemistry, and ecology. My focus in Environmental Science was ecology and remediation, and I had the opportunity to work on some amazing research at the Swan lab. I have always had a deep interest in science, and am excited to help you to excel in you STEM course work!

I have a passion for teaching, especially when it comes to chemistry! I have been finding ways to share knowledge in every career path I’ve walked so far: tutoring fellow linguists to help improve their fluency in Persian Farsi, volunteering with Living Classrooms to teach science concepts to kids in Baltimore, as a TA for general chemistry at UMBC. Ever since I learned a foreign language in a year at the Defense Language Institute in Monterey, I’ve also been fascinated with learning EFFICIENTLY. I focus on making use of minimalist concepts to make sure you’re getting your money’s worth for my help. I will help you gain a deep understanding of concepts in general, organic, and bio chemistry in no time!

If my tutoring style speaks to you, please don't hesitate to contact me!

Chemistry,

Chemistry

I completed my BA in chemistry at UMBC, where I was also top of my class in calculus, physics, and biology courses. I understand that studying different STEM topics that have variations in nomenclature and conventions can be frustrating, and I'm here to break it down so it is simple and fun!
Geometry,

Geometry

I've been helping students to understand geometry concepts since the start of my volunteering in after school programs in 2014. Geometry is used in the higher level physical science subjects I teach as well, so I enjoy being able to show students the application of these concepts so they can engage with the topics!

Botany,

Botany

In my coursework for my degree I focused on ecology, which required me to learn the botanical classifications of the plants in ecosystems I studied. I collected and identified numerous plant species to display on herbarium paper, and also began contributing to the Maryland Wildlife Diversity project with plant identification. I also completed a course in forest ecology in which we were required to learn 60+ east coast tree and shrub species, and I contributed analytical work to a study that compared native and invasive plant species. I'm continuing to learn about botany and local plants and I love it!
