I earned my Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Hawai'i at Manoa and have spent more than ten years teaching and tutoring students from middle school through graduate-level coursework. My experience includes high school and university teaching in physics, chemistry, astronomy, and physical science, along with extensive AP Physics instruction. I have also worked one-on-one with students studying advanced undergraduate and graduate physics and electrical engineering.
I believe good tutoring should do more than help a student survive the next test. I first identify where a student is strong, where the underlying gaps are, and how the student approaches unfamiliar problems. From there, we work toward genuine understanding rather than memorizing procedures. This approach works equally well for a student struggling with introductory physics and an advanced student looking for a serious challenge.
I have taught accelerated AP Physics C coursework preparing students for both Mechanics and Electricity & Magnetism, with nearly all of my students passing both exams. I have also helped students prepare for AP Calculus AB/BC, the SAT, and GRE, and former students have gone on to universities including Brown, Duke, and Harvard.
My goal is simple: help students become better problem solvers and increasingly independent learners. I especially enjoy working with students who are curious about STEM, want to understand how classroom ideas connect to the real world, or are preparing themselves for demanding college-level work.
