I earned two A.A. degrees in History and Behavioral Sciences with honors at Grossmont College in 2011. I graduated Magna Cum Laude with BA in History with a minor in Anthropological Archaeology at the University of California, San Diego in 2013. With the completion of coursework and my M.A. thesis entitled, "Motive for Roman Imperialism in North Africa, 300 BCE to 100 CE," I earned my M.A. in History from San Diego State University in 2015. Since 2016, I have taught at community colleges as an adjunct professor teaching American and world history course. In 2017, I began work towards my Ph.D. in Ancient Mediterranean History at the University of California, Riverside with a teaching area in World History. Here, I was certified at Research-Level competency in Latin and have taken 4 years of coursework in Classical Greek. I am also a teaching assistant in world history courses.
I have had many successes with students in various subjects, including math, writing, history, chemistry, archaeology, anthropology, psychology, philosophy, first-year Italian, beginning and Intermediate Latin, reading comprehension, and test preparation. I can also provide help in research writing and editing for MLA, APA, ASA, and CMS styles of writing.
My primary objective in providing tutoring is to assist students with their understanding of the material and increasing their overall grades. Also, I have worked with students and achieved success with various learning disabilities. My greatest successes have been with students who receive regular lessons, but I have also helped students prepare for a single upcoming test, paper, or assignment. I like to know how students do and how my lessons have helped my students, so feedback is central to my mission. Feel free to contact me with any questions, I usually answer within a few hours. I look forward to helping you or your student achieve success.

WyzAnt who do you think your foolin' I think Michael D. is actually Albert Einstien the second. He knows everything!

I am difficult to impress, but I am impressed with Michael D. He is intelligent. It is difficult to find people who can tackle many subjects. Michael can because he is simply intelligent, and able to figure out what is placed in front of him. He is very flexible also. Many tutors shy away from a lack of time. Not him. With only hours on the clock, he had my paper back to me in perfect timing. I am truly grateful for Michael. His intelligence rubbed off on me. After seeing how he handles assignments with ease, I too want to do that, so I am going to enroll in a class that will teach me APA. I like Michaels style, he is easy going, and very intelligent. I will use him again if I am ever in need of assistance.

Good Tutor!

We used Michael for our daughter who is a HS sophomore. Michael assisted her with honors chemistry and a little AP history. Michael had a good rapport with our daughter and answered her questions. We will use Michael again. 4 stars!

Mike is a thoughtful and comprehensive tutor.

First session: Mike was able to help Zach approach Chemistry differently than he had, he offered tips, a fresh approach and filled in the missing information that his teacher skimmed. I liked that he read up on where Zach was specifically and he came prepared. He has a gentle demeanor, very relaxed and he just came in and they got to work. A few months later: Zach's grade and comfort are increasing. He is definitely getting serious targeted help. Mike comes prepared for EACH lesson, he refreshes himself on the material before he comes and checks out books from his school library on Chemistry to supplement what he is teaching Zach. I find that really impressive. I could not be happier with my choice from Wyzant. Mike is able to teach Zach and his level and at his pace, and it has been wonderful to see his grade improve. The less stress that he is having in this one class is positively affecting all his other courses.
