I have taught classes in C++, Java, Python, and C# at the Delaware Technical Community College. Recently, I have been tutoring people on Wyzant in Python and Java, including developing GUI programs in both languages. I also have experience using Python to access relational databases and using the numpy, pandas, and matplotlib libraries. In my teaching and tutoring, I’ve worked with many students who are struggling with the basic concepts of programming. This is frustrating and limits their ability to move on to more complex programming. I try to use everyday examples to explain programming concepts for those just starting and have a large collection of examples in Python.

While I have worked with people of all ages on Wyzant, I particularly enjoy working with young children who are learning programming for the first time, or graduating from Scratch to Python. I have worked with children as young as 10.

Java

I have taught both beginning and intermediate Java classes in a college environment. In addition to the basics, I have taught object oriented programming and JavaFX. I have used both Eclipse and IntelliJ IDEA as integrated programming environments (IDEs). I strongly believe using an IDE for writing and debugging code will make you much more successful as a programmer at any level.
Python

Python

I have taught Python as part of college level, 16 week, Introduction to Scripting class. I teach students the benefits of using Pycharm, a modern integrated programming environment, for both writing and debugging Python projects. I have also taught students how to use Python to develop windows applications using Tkinter, an Python extension.

Great tutor for teens

My 14-year-old and 12-year-old enjoy taking Python classes with Eric. He is very patient and explains the concepts well. Previously, my kids had taken group classes that moved through projects quickly, but they didn't really understand what they were learning. I think they'll be able to build a good programming foundation with Eric while creating custom projects they enjoy. My kids say Mr. Eric is chill. They like him!
