Career Development

Career Development

After a long career in law, I worked as a Human Resources Professional for over five years. I interviewed employees, read hundreds of cover letters and reviewed resumes. As an ESOL teacher and tutor, I have helped many adults write their personal statements for graduate programs, including medical school and have corrected countless numbers of cover letters and resumes. I have prepared a large number of students for job interviews by finding sample questions in their field and conducting multiple mock interviews, either in person or through Skype. I want them to shine, but it has to be in their own words without any language barriers to hold them back.
College Counseling

College Counseling

For over five years, I assisted high school students with college essays, resumes, and cover letters for internships. I have also helped with graduate school applications, primarily in the medical and business fields. I work for four college admissions companies around the world. I enjoy brainstorming with students and making their essays shine. Laurie

Great Career Development Lessons

Laurie helped me prepare for an upcoming job interview. We practiced several mock interview questions. She was candid but thoughtful with her feedback. I learnt a lot from our session and looking forward to more with her.

Graduate Application Assistance-Getting Established

Wonder first tutor lesson. Kind and knowledgeable. Eager to help. As someone applying to graduate school for the first time, having her help writing my personal essay was like a breath of fresh air.

Professional and Helpful Tutor!

Laurie helped me prepare for my graduate school interview at my dream school. She prepared a list of questions beforehand and gave me ideas on things to talk about for the questions I was not able to answer. She helped build my confidence and now feel more prepared for the interview than before. Thank you again Laurie!

Great tutor!

Laurie helped me correct my pronunciation word by word. She is such a nice lady and prepared a lot of materials for me. I think I will keep in touch with her for a while to improve my spoken English.

Professional and patient

Her tutoring for a foreign student on ESL/ESOL were well organized, and is helping my children fit into the class. Also went out of her way to help us arrange a perfect location for the tutoring. Well worth the fees! I am sticking with her for a while.

Works well with beginners

Laurie is very patient with my 6-year old beginning piano student. They covered a lot of material in the first day, but I think at just the right pace.
