I'm Nitya! I have been a tutor for over 8 years and have worked with over 100 students ranging from 6 yrs old to 24 yrs old. I have experience teaching students across a wide range of subjects and academic levels, including elementary reading, writing, mathematics, and science; middle/high school coursework; SAT preparation; and college-level science courses. I graduated high school with a 1540 SAT. I also earned scores of 4s and 5s on my AP exams, which helped prepare me for my acceptance into George Washington University through the 7-year accelerated BS/MD program, where I graduated magna cum laude with a BA in Biological Sciences.

During my undergraduate and medical education, I expanded my tutoring experience to include advanced science subjects such as biology, chemistry, biochemistry, physiology, and anatomy. I have provided both one-on-one freelance tutoring and worked with an online chemistry-focused tutoring company, where I helped students strengthen their conceptual understanding and problem-solving skills. I have also mentored pre-medical students by assisting with personal statement writing, medical school interview preparation, and the overall application process. Additionally, my involvement in medical research has given me experience editing scientific manuscripts and helping prepare research for publication.

As a fourth-year medical student at George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences currently completing a dedicated research year, I understand the challenges students face when learning complex material. My teaching approach focuses on building a strong conceptual foundation rather than relying on memorization alone. I break down difficult topics into understandable steps, adapt my approach to each student's learning style, and use active recall, practice questions, and real-world examples to improve retention. My goal is to help students not only perform better academically, but also develop the confidence and study strategies needed for long-term success.

I was on the school newspaper for 4 years in high school. In college, I had 1 article published in a local newspaper and 1 fictional piece published in a teen-focused magazine. In medical school, I have been published in the medical school newsletter as well as in a peer-reviewed medical journal (Radiology Case Reports). I have 2 other papers pending publishing currently.
