Hello! My name is Emma and I am a current research fellow at the NIH but soon to be grad student in at the University of Oxford to obtain my PhD in biomedical research. I have my bachelors degree in Biology from Bard College and also have a minor in Global Public Health. I am very interested in virology, how they cause disease, and how our immune systems respond - so very passionate and knowledgeable about microbiology and immunology!

I tutored for a total of 6 years, both in high school as well as all 4 years of my undergraduate degree. I have tutored for at the high schoolers, college students as well as adults of all ages! I spent most of my time as a tutor and peer mentor to underclassmen in the biology department. Thus, I am super familiar with and love going over basic biology concepts from genetics to microbiology, cellular biology and more! I am also very familiar with tutoring biostatistics and can help assist with understanding core statistical concepts and trouble shooting what tests/visuals to use. Lastly, I am proficient in the R coding language and can help teach/problem solving any coding issues - especially as it relates to biological data.
Beyond that, I have extensive experience applying to both undergraduate and graduate degree programs, and am a lover of writing and literature. Thus, I am more than happy to tutor and review written pieces of work whether for home work, applications, or thesis work. This last cycle I obtained 5 graduate degree offers, outside of Oxford I also received offers from Cornell, Dartmouth, Univ. of Washington and Harvard. I would love to use the skills and insights I learned during this process to help other with their own writing and applications.
