Hi, I'm John! I have a Bachelors of Science in Biology from Gordon College and a Master's of Arts in Biblical History and Geography from Jerusalem University College, and I am currently a PhD student in Semitic Languages at Catholic University of America. I have three years of middle school classroom teaching experience in Biology, English, Math, and History. As a middle school teacher, my goals in the classroom were to communicate lesson materials clearly and effectively, and to inspire students to enjoy learning and pursue their questions. I believe the best educators are knowledgeable, personable, and encourage students to investigate questions and topics of interest to them. My tutoring sessions in core subjects include teaching a fundamental concept and then prompting students to ask questions and investigate the topic with me.
I also possess specialized training in Biblical Hebrew. I am a PhD student in Semitic Languages and specialize in Biblical Hebrew and Aramaic. I am able to teach Biblical Hebrew starting with the alphabet all the ways to reading narrative and poetry in the Hebrew Bible. These tutoring sessions are more structured because language acquisition begins with the basics, but over time become more focused on investigating questions and inquiries about the text of the Hebrew Bible.
I am happy to provide tutoring in core subjects as well as Biblical Hebrew. Please reach out to me with details regarding your particular needs and I am happy to begin working with you! I provide a free consultation appointment where we will discuss the topics and format of tutoring. Feel free to contact me with additional questions and to set up a lesson!
