One of my passions as an educator is teaching my students to read. As a child, I held a large love for exploring different types of books and always exited the library with about ten books in my hands. I knew that when I became a teacher, I wanted to introduce my students to the joys of immersing themselves in the world of books.
I have experience with both the Fundations and Reading Street curriculums for reading as well as the Heggerty Phonemic Awareness curriculum for developing those foundational skills in reading. I love to approach teaching reading by introducing a multi-sensory approach that includes many hands-on activities and games that will help the child practice those foundational reading skills and learn to utilize them when approaching different types of text.
