I’m Nathan! I completed my higher education in the UK, where I studied law at the University of Oxford and history at the University of St Andrews.
I specialize in teaching the full range of AP history subjects and providing test preparation for SAT subject exams. I also offer tutoring in AP English Literature and Composition, as well as AP Comparative Government. In high school, I received top grades across all of these tests, scoring in the 99th percentile on the SAT (1500) and achieving perfect 800s on the SAT Subject Tests in World History and Literature. My AP scores included 5s in US History, European History, English Literature and Composition, and Comparative Government.
I have been tutoring intermittently for years, working with students ranging from 6 to 18 years old in one-on-one settings. During high school, I also volunteered with Head Start, teaching children ages 5-7 in classroom environments.
My teaching philosophy centers around building students’ confidence, leveraging their strengths, and providing concrete techniques for learning effectively. I aim to provide a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and are excited to learn. I believe the most effective learning happens when students are engaged and enthusiastic, so I tailor each session to the individual's interests, needs, and learning style. In this way, I work with students to develop personalized strategies that help them achieve their academic goals.
