I am a seasoned policy expert and legislative professional with over a decade of experience in federal tax law, government relations, and policy education. I hold a Master of Science in Taxation from American University, a Master of Arts in Public Management from Johns Hopkins University (where I was invited to teach as an adjunct professor), and a certificate in Comparative Tax and Administration from Harvard Kennedy School. My undergraduate degree is in Political Science and History from the University of Washington.
I have taught and lectured in professional and academic settings for years. I’ve made six guest lecturing appearances, including at a graduate policy program, where I’ve taught topics ranging from policy to legislative drafting. My teaching style emphasizes clarity, real-world applications, and storytelling—bridging the gap between complexity and practical understanding.
In my most recent role in the government, I mentored attorneys and trained staff on complex rules and case analysis. Prior to that, I led public policy education efforts as the Legislative Director at the National League of Cities, where I guided local officials through intricate federal tax provisions affecting municipal finance.
Across these roles, I’ve taught learners at all levels—from graduate students and early-career professionals to seasoned practitioners—through one-on-one coaching, seminars, and formal classroom instruction. My teaching is grounded in both technical knowledge and policy context, ensuring students not only understand the “what” but also the “why” behind the rules.
I look forward to bringing this experience to Wyzant students.
