I hold two bachelor’s degrees, both magna cum laude, from Kenyon College and am provisionally certified to teach in the State of Maryland. I am currently in my second year of teaching and third year of tutoring.
As an ACT tutor for six months, I conducted one-on-one online sessions where my students improved their ACT scores by an average of four points. In addition, I have tutored grade school students in reading, writing, and mathematics, consistently helping them exceed Maryland state performance averages.
I currently teach Spanish in Montgomery County Public Schools (MCPS), working with 120 students across five classes in two schools within a demographically diverse district. My teaching philosophy prioritizes using educational technology; for example, I’ve integrated Duolingo into my Spanish curriculum, which has garnered overwhelmingly positive student feedback and measurable success.
My experience spans a range of grade levels, from 1st through 12th, in Montgomery and Anne Arundel Counties, Maryland. Whether in a classroom or tutoring setting, my goal is for every student to grow in both capability during each lesson.
To achieve this, I focus on understanding each student’s motivations, providing clear structure and targeted positive reinforcement. My approach creates an environment where students feel supported while being challenged to achieve their best.
