I am a certified teacher and reading specialist with over 25 years of experience supporting students in grades K–6. I hold a Master’s degree in Education with a Reading Specialist endorsement and have worked in classroom, small group, and intervention settings with a wide range of learners. I understand that every child learns differently, and I focus on meeting students where they are while helping them grow into confident, capable readers.
My instruction is grounded in research-based practices aligned with the Science of Reading. I specialize in building strong foundations in phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, and comprehension through clear, systematic instruction. Students learn how to break words apart and put sounds together so they can decode unfamiliar words with confidence instead of relying on memorization. I also support writing by helping students organize their ideas, strengthen sentence structure, and express themselves clearly.
I have particular expertise in early literacy development, especially in grades K–3, where foundational skills have the greatest impact on long-term success. I provide individualized instruction in both one-on-one and virtual settings, tailoring each lesson to meet the needs of the student. My goal is to reduce frustration, build confidence, and equip students with the skills they need to become strong, independent readers.
