I hold a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Psychology, a Master's degree in Special Education, and a Master's degree in School Supervision and Administration from George Mason University. I have taught all grade levels as a co-teacher and a lead teacher. I have been a Staff Development Specialist, a public school administrator, and a professor of Special Education at the undergraduate and graduate levels. I have presented at numerous conferences on varying topics related to special education.
I’m certified in a range of multisensory instructional programs and trained in both the Orton-Gillingham and Wilson Reading methods. My claim to fame? I can teach anyone, at any age, how to read. I specialize in working with students who have Dyslexia, ADHD, executive functioning challenges, Autism, emotional and behavioral needs, and more. I support learners from kindergarten through college, offering targeted instruction in reading, writing, organization, and executive functioning.
In addition to direct instruction, I’m an experienced educational consultant and advocate. I train educators on how to develop and write effective Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). I can analyze documents such as neuropsychological evaluations and Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) to identify appropriate goals, objectives, and supports. I have deep knowledge of special education law and frequently serve as an expert witness in due process hearings.
With over 25 years of experience tutoring and advocating for students and their families, I offer support across most academic subjects, excluding higher-level mathematics and foreign languages. I’ve contributed to national education organizations, helped write curriculum, and trained teachers nationwide in Science of Reading strategies.
Above all, I love working with learners of all ages. Teaching is my passion!
