I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Physics and Astronomy, and a Ph.D. in Physics. In high school I helped other students in Physics and in Math (algebra, geometry, trigonometry, and calculus); I was also on the Math team and received a perfect score on the Math SAT. As an undergraduate I received a partial Math scholarship, and I tutored students in Math, Physics, and Astronomy.

While a graduate student I was a Teaching Assistant for Physics lecture and lab courses. These courses included introductory mechanics, electricity and magnetism, and optics. I am also an also experienced High School and College tutor in Physics and Mathematics.

I have taught Physics and Astronomy lecture and laboratory classes at several community colleges as an Adjunct Professor. As both a Teaching Assistant and an Adjunct Professor, I prepared lesson plans, led discussion sessions, gave lectures, conducted laboratory sessions, held office hours, and prepared and graded homework and quizzes.

In all of my tutoring and teaching positions I strive to connect with each student, to make sure the student understands the underlying concepts and not just how to solve problems. I show the students how mathematical connections will help them to derive information from previous problems they have solved; this often helps them feel that they can build a knowledge base in which to pull from when tackling a new problem. That can give them greater confidence than merely relying on rote memory for solving math problems and scientific problems. Every student has their preferred way of learning, so I try to tailor my tutoring for each individual.
