I am an experienced educator with a strong background in special education, English language arts, writing, Algebra I, and individualized academic support. I hold a Bachelor of Science in Family Science from the University of Maryland, College Park, as well as a Master of Science in Forensic Studies from Stevenson University. My educational background has strengthened my skills in research, academic writing, critical thinking, organization, and communicating complex information clearly. I have also completed PRAXIS testing in Core Academic Skills, Special Education, and English Language Arts.

I have several years of experience working in public education, including as a special education teacher and IEP clerk. As a high school special education teacher, I worked with students with a wide range of learning needs in both general education and specialized settings, including co-teaching Algebra I and Algebra II. I provided individualized and small-group instruction, monitored student progress, implemented IEP accommodations and goals, and adapted lessons to meet each student’s learning style and ability level. My experience has taught me that students often understand far more than they think they do—they may simply need information presented in a different way.

My tutoring approach is patient, encouraging, and individualized. I want students to understand the material rather than simply memorize enough to complete an assignment. I am especially comfortable helping students with English and writing, reading comprehension, essays, research and organization, study skills, homework support, and foundational math. I also enjoy working with students who have IEPs, learning differences, or who simply benefit from additional patience and one-on-one attention. My goal is to create a comfortable environment where students can ask questions, build confidence, and develop skills they can carry into future classes.
