Hi, I’m a certified high school science teacher with 22 years of classroom experience in science and mathematics. I specialize in helping students truly understand STEM, not just memorize it. I’m Praxis certified in physics, biology and calculus, and am in the midst of national board certification. I’ve tutored dozens of students both in person and online, public school, private school and university level.
Whether your student is struggling in a required science class or trying to get ahead in a GT, Honors, or AP track, I can help. My approach is visual, conceptual, and student-centered: I build from what students already know and use diagrams, analogies, computer simulations and practice problems to make complex topics stick. Gradually, you won’t need to rely on memorization anymore, because you’ll understand the why and not just the what.
I’ve taught everything from Newton’s laws to DNA replication to Taylor series, and I know how to meet students where they are, especially if they’re frustrated or overwhelmed. I also work with students on study skills, organization, and metacognition to help them become more independent and confident learners.
I think my biggest strength is in asking good leading questions rather than giving straight answers. I would rather you figure it out for yourself than memorize something I told you.
Sessions are relaxed but focused, and I always adapt my explanations and pacing to the student’s needs.
