About Emma

Bio

I am a graduate student at George Mason University! I am pursuing a PhD in Earth Systems and Geoinformation Sciences. I also graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Geography from GMU in 2021, along with a Masters of Science in Geoinformatics and Geospatial Intelligence in 2023.
My experiences from college provided me many skills with Geography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). I am knowledgeable with many fields in Geography, and I am proficient with ArcGIS and other mapping...

My experiences from college provided me many skills with Geography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). I am knowledgeable with many fields in Geography, and I am proficient with ArcGIS and other mapping applications. I made Dean’s List every semester, earned the Outstanding Student of the Geography Department and Outstanding Service to the Geography Department awards, and was offered the Presidential Scholarship for my graduate studies. I developed an expertise and excellence in Geography and GIS from my passion for the subject and support of my professors. My professors inspired me to continue learning about Geography and GIS, and helped me grow as a student and a person. I would like to have this impact on other students through teaching!
Before becoming a Research Assistant, I was a Teaching Assistant for four years at GMU. I provided assistance to GIS courses at GMU. I offered guidance to professors on how to develop their classes, and I helped students learn the content as well as comprehend the technical skills with GIS. I assisted students by sitting down with them one on one and walking through each step with them. I have experience with this in-person, and online due to the pandemic. I held this position since 2018 and I am looking forward to continue this throughout my college career.

I have completed many courses in college that focus on specific fields of Geography. I have earned high As in each of the classes, and fully comprehended the content in the courses. I have specific expertise in World Regions, Physical Geography, Human Geography, Field Mapping, Meteorology, Climatology, GIS, Cartography, Intelligence Analysis and Geostatistics. Additionally, I have helped students in each of these topics.

GIS

I have been working with GIS for five years, and I am one of the top students in my class. I have completed many courses at George Mason that focus on the concept, technical skills, and application of GIS. These courses allowed me to produce multiple research projects using GIS skills. I am also a teaching assistant that is concentrated on GIS; I help students learn about GIS and how to use it. Additionally, I’ve been offered many research opportunities with GIS.
