I have taught college and pre-college students, for thirty years, in engineering as well as related subjects: Mathematics and Physics. In the course of doing that, I learnt the varying aptitudinal differences among students’ populations and learnt to forestall and mitigate consequential assimilating difficulties that may arise.
I observe, for example, that relating abstract theoretical concepts with real life phenomena, assist greatly in boosting learner-students’ interests and, hence, understanding. This is because mathematics is used to describe physical phenomena, in these sciences. The abstractness of Mathematics, therefore, render assimilation challenging for an average student. My technique has helped students to follow my lessons with interests. This has brought about excitements, for me and the students, the real goal of all we do.
