I am currently a stay at home mom, homeschooling my Kindergartener and Preschooler. We are part of a weekly co-op, where I also plan and lead lessons for small groups of early elementary age homeschool students. My goal when working with this age group is to kindle a sense of curiosity and love of learning. I can work from a curriculum, create individualized lessons or support a curriculum already being used.

Previously I worked as an Academic Counselor with college students with disabilities. In this role, I helped students improve study skills, time management, test-taking and more. I also spearheaded a program to help students make a smooth transition from high school into college. I have experience working with students with ADHD, Learning Disabilities, and Autism Spectrum Disorder. As a tutor for older students, my goal is to empower them to be more independent by helping them learn the skills they need to be more successful on their own. I will build on each student's strengths and help them find ways to improve upon their needs. I will not do the students work for them, but I will help them learn to produce quality work more independently.

I have a Bachelors Degree in Social Work as well as a Masters Degree in Social Work, including a specialization in Mental Health. Prior to working as an Academic Counselor, I worked as a mental health therapist. I worked with clients of all ages and with a variety of issues.

Reliable, responsive, thorough

Dana has been working with my son for several weeks. She has been on time for all of the tutoring sessions. I have provided her with progress reports and feedback from my son's teachers and Dana has adapted his tutoring accordingly. I regularly send her emails (e.g., to keep her apprised of recent assignments or to alert her about an upcoming test or quiz) and she has always responded quite promptly. Dana has provided detailed feedback on progress achieved during tutoring sessions. She has been receptive to my suggestions on areas where she should focus her efforts. Overall I am very pleased with the service Dana has provided.

Great tutor, plan to use her again in the fall.

Dana worked well with my freshmen college student. She helped her with organizational, study and test skills. She also helped her focus on critical areas for success in her English class. Dana's tutoring made for a successful semester. She provided a nice summary after every tutoring session that kept me well informed of their progress. I would recommend her.

Great dependable tutor.

This was our first experience with a tutor and wow what a wonderful choice. Dana is dependable and a great listener and teacher. We will definitely use her again in the future. I just wish we used her sooner.

Awesome! Dana gets through where parents can't!

Our child was struggling with studying and and taking tests. She would not heed our suggestions but really listens to Dana and her ideas. She says "She knows things that really help me." The test taking appears to be smoother in the short time we have been working with Dana. Dana is always on time for her appointments and keeps the session on task so we are very pleased.
