Hi there, my name is Shannon! I have 12 years of both military and civilian nursing experience in Medical & Surgical, Emergency Nursing, and more recently Primary Care- Family Practice. I understand the stress and rigor of both Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs. I have a great academic and clinical understanding on a wide range of nursing/medical-related topics. I actively maintain multiple professional certifications (CEN, RN, NP) and resuscitative medicine certifications (BLS, ACLS, PALS, TNCC), which have allowed me to develop a good understanding of testing psychology and formal exam structure. I passed my NCLEX & AANP FNP certification exams on the first attempt, and have stayed current by periodically doing Kaplan/Saunders/Fitzgerald test prep questions and CE's, which helps me with teaching test tips/tricks. I would love to help you, especially if you are struggling with understanding anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, assessment, diagnosis, research, leadership/healthcare management, evidence-based practice topics, nursing theory, NCLEX exam prep, AANP FNP exam prep, and scholarly writing related topics. I have mentored, precepted, and taught many nursing students in both undergraduate and graduate programs successfully, with a fun, relatable, and respectful attitude. I enjoy a more personal approach, so I do not take a lot of students - that way I can focus on quality and prepping well for sessions.
I am currently working part-time as an independent contractor, meaning my availability can vary due to my work schedule. That being said, feel free to message me, and we can figure out when it's best to meet up! Best of luck in all your academic endeavors! =)

Anatomy

Anatomy

Strong understanding of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology having taken multiple graduate courses in this area. Extensive acute care experience in ER/ICU as well as primary care settings, which has helped me develop a good practical understanding of clinical anatomy/physiology (disease presentation, symptomatology, etc.).
NCLEX

NCLEX

I have precepted many LPN, BSN, doctoral nursing students, helping them to ready themselves for board exams. Personally, I did 1600+ review questions and two review courses when preparing for my NCLEX exam- I treated it like a full-time job, and am versed in the preparatory process. I have maintained my BLS, ACLS, PALS certifications, and have my Certification in Emergency Nursing, demonstrating my commitment to staying clinically relevant in nursing.
Nursing

Nursing

I have my DNP and passed the AANP FNP exam in 7/2023. I have 2 years as NP in family practice, and 11 years as a RN, mostly in ER/surgical setting. I have maintained active certs in ACLS, PALS, BLS. Additionally, I have my certification in emergency nursing. I did over 1800 AANP style review questions and thorough content review via multiple high quality review programs, and felt very well prepared for the exam.

Incredibly knowledgable, proactive and helpful tutor!

Shannon and I have covered several disease processes for Adult Health Theory II for my ABSN program. She is clearly knowledgeable and adept at helping a person to understand and grasp nursing concepts/processes (ADPIE) and even goes above and beyond to address NCLEX-style questions and thought processes. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
