After a decade of Engineering experience (2013 - 2024), I realized I enjoyed working with people more than machines! My favorite part of Engineering was taking complicated concepts and breaking them down into understandable chunks. After a decade of Engineering experience (2013 - 2024), I realized I enjoyed working with people more than machines! My favorite part of Engineering was taking complicated concepts and breaking them down into understandable chunks. Now I am a Middle School Paraeducator with Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS) (2024 - present), and my skills from testing rocket launching systems (Lockheed Martin), power tool product design (Stanley Black & Decker), and aerospace manufacturing (ST Engineering) have never been more useful.

I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). As an adolescent and teenager, I was heavily involved with Boy Scouts of America, beginning my experience leading children, serving the public, and assisting those with special needs. Even during my time as an engineer, I had been involved with volunteer programs, and I had gone back to my old high school to help direct a theater production.

Working within the Middle School Special Education and Math Departments has given me critical insight into problem solving; Root Cause Analysis is not just an Engineering principle. If a student is struggling to excel, it is our job to find and define the knowledge gaps and skill deficiencies, then develop and plan a structure that will work for that individual. I know to take a step back and reframe the issue, and that’s a technique I teach my students - reassess the problem in different ways.

As a visual and tactile learner, I excel at providing visual models, real-life examples, and alternative problem-solving techniques. I’ve worked one-on-one and led small group instruction with 6th and 7th grade Math and Science classes inside BCPS. I am excited to teach more advanced topics such as Trigonometry, Geometry, Algebra, Physics, and Chemistry; I have a LOT of academic and real-life experience with those subjects! So whether you need to catch-up on the basics, or want a leg-up on the advanced steps, I am happy to help!
