I am not only a tutor, but more importantly I am a teacher. I taught Math and Computer Science in a STEM Magnet school in Baltimore County Public schools and at the college level. One of my major strengths is that I not only know the mathematics content, but am also an experienced educator. I tutor my students based on their individual learning style and I am able to deepen their understanding of mathematical concepts and improve their problem solving skills. I explain the mathematical concepts in a way that makes sense to the student. I customize lessons to meet students needs including providing foundation math building blocks where they are missing to insure each student has a firm mathematical foundation.
I work hard to not only teach the content, but also to build confidence in the student. In my experience of 26 years of tutoring and teaching math, often this factor is just as essential as learning the mathematics itself. I love watching the light bulb go on for students and see them succeed and gain confidence. One of my college students said, "I HATED math before I took Mrs. K.'s class, I was awful at it and had never gotten a good grade. She was the best math teacher I ever had."
