After 20+ years as a law school-educated policy analyst and professional advocate—where clear, persuasive writing was essential—I'm channeling that expertise into helping students become confident, skilled writers.

I'm a Duke graduate (Economics and History double major) with a law degree and over two decades as a professional analyst and advocate. I'm a published writer in the New York International Law Review, having won a competitive writing competition. As an AP Scholar, I earned 5s in both U.S. History and English Language & Composition, and I've been tutoring since high school, continuing as a paid peer tutor at Duke then assisting colleagues and new hires.

Most tutors help students finish homework. I teach systems that make students independent learners. When we work on an essay, you learn my proven research methodology, outlining framework, and revision process—the same techniques I used professionally where writing quality mattered.

In the age of AI, strong writing skills matter more than ever. AI can generate text, but it can't think critically, evaluate sources, or build original arguments. Students who rely on AI without the fundamentals will struggle when professors and employers spot AI-generated work. I teach you how to think, research, and argue effectively—human skills that make you valuable and help you use AI as a tool, not a crutch.

My teaching approach uses structured, week-by-week methods that break complex projects into manageable steps. Throughout this process, I emphasize resilience, learning to push through challenging material and persist when writing feels hard builds the mental strength students need for college and beyond.

I'm passionate about showing students that literature and history aren't just requirements—they're invaluable lessons about human nature and decision-making. My goal is helping you become an independent learner who approaches complex material with confidence and perseverance.

ACT Reading

ACT Reading

As a Duke University graduate with a double major in Economics and History, I bring both strong analytical skills and extensive tutoring experience to ACT Reading prep. I've been tutoring since high school and served as a peer tutor at Duke, helping students break down complex texts and develop critical reading strategies. My humanities background gives me deep expertise in the types of passages students encounter on the ACT—literature, social sciences, and historical documents. I focus on teaching students genuine comprehension techniques and time management strategies that lead to lasting score improvements, not just test-taking tricks.
Essay Writing

Essay Writing

As a seasoned writer with a B.A. from Duke University and two decades as a federal civil servant, I have a deep and practical understanding of how to craft precise, persuasive writing. I have honed my skills through rigorous academic training, earning AP English credit and being published in a law journal. Now, I am committed to sharing this expertise and am pursuing a teaching career. My goal is to empower students to develop the critical thinking and communication skills essential for clear, impactful writing.
