In subjects like math and science, learning to reason in a logical sequence is foundational for developing mastery.
I graduated Highschool earning a 4 in the Calculus AB AP test and a 790/800 in the math section of the SAT. Then, in college, I tutored college General Chemistry students and high school math students in a one-on-one setting either in person or online. After college, I spent two months in South Africa, living with a family of 10 to help them with homeschooling. I spent time teaching math, science, grammar, and violin to children ages 5 to 14. In South Africa, I taught in both group settings and one-on-one settings.
My favorite part about tutoring is seeing the student smile when they finally understand a concept they have been struggling with. It is rewarding to see them put in the work and reap the joy of understanding! For this reason, I most enjoy students who desire to conquer their problems, even when they can see that they have weaknesses.
