An early-in-life love of classic literature may have been the catalyst for turning me into a full-blown logophile. I joined my high school’s newspaper in ninth grade, winning statewide awards for my writing, and expanded my journalism skills by continuing to write and edit throughout my high school years and as a college freshman. While earning my BA in psychology (and minoring in cultural anthropology with a focus on pre-colonial Mesoamerica) and MA in Applied Developmental Psychology, my writing and editing naturally skewed toward all things academic. Writing for and publishing in peer-reviewed journals, editing papers and essays for high school and college students, writing parenting resource guides, and writing Accelerated Reader questions for over one-hundred middle-grade books honed my research skills.

Throughout my academic career, I was involved in multiple professor-led research groups and completed four internships. After graduating with my master’s, I worked at a national non-profit in downtown DC and as an assistant researcher at the University of Washington in Seattle. I gradually transitioned to full-time editing, and I specialize in fiction and creative nonfiction.

With students and authors alike, I believe in being patient and delivering feedback gently. You will receive detail-oriented instruction that is tailored to your strengths and weaknesses so that you will leave each session with an increased sense of self-confidence in your skills and abilities. If you're looking for a tutor who is supportive, results-driven, and who will be your cheerleader at every step, then I might just be the tutor for you!

Creative Writing

With over twenty years of experience in the writing and editing fields, I'm well versed in how to put together a strong piece of fiction or creative non-fiction. During that time, I've completed story-level edits on over 500 manuscripts, written and published under both my own name and as a ghostwriter, and have dozens of satisfied writing coaching clients. But since the reader and genre expectations are anything but static, I've continued to improve my own skills and craft, and I'd love to help you hone yours as well to make your writing come to life!
