“**AMAZING Tutor!**”

I’ve always been fascinated with the process of how we come to believe in ourselves (self-efficacy), and how that process helps us to establish an identity and become capable adults. During the adolescent years, this is the most pressing psychosocial issue.

I am blessed to have three sons, each one with different interests. As they were

John was great! He took the time to get some information about what you were learning before the tutoring session. He arrived to the session on time and fully prepared with notes and graphs to help you learn. He typed up a notes page for helpful information and let you keep all notes and graphs. He took the time to explain things clearly and didn't move on until you were comfortable with the material. I definitely recommend him to anyone! He helped me with my Calculus problems and made the subject a lot clearer for me.

Today was my daughter's first tutor session. She was very nervous before he arrived. Afterwards she said she really liked him and he made her feel comfortable and eager to learn. Completely recommend him.

My daughter had her first session with John. She said he was very patient and explained things well. She now has a plan to prepare for the SAT and knows John will support her.

John taught Math (Algebra I, II and precalculus to my daughter. My daughter learned a lot from John, Fantastic teacher!

John and I worked on slopes, geometry and fractions. He gave me space and time to process the problems and guided me when I needed help. His easy going attitude , and motivational approach goes a long way. Thank you John.

John is a fantastic tutor! My son has had trouble with higher level Math and is now preparing to take the SAT's. John has come consistently twice a week and on time. He's very patient and positive but also is honest about what needs to change to make progress (ie. he mentioned that my son needs to work harder in between sessions if he's to be ready for the SAT's in time. Since that honest discussion, my son has done more homework and is better prepared for each session.

I highly recommend John!

Mr. John is the right teacher for my son. My son likes his style of teaching and he can process what he taught him. He comes right on time ready to teach. I will like to continue with him as long as he is willing to teach him twice a week so that he can master the concepts well.

Approved subjects are in **bold**.

In most cases, tutors gain approval in a subject by passing a proficiency exam. For some subject areas, like music and art, tutors submit written requests to demonstrate their proficiency to potential students. If a tutor is interested but not yet approved in a subject, the subject will appear in non-bold font. Tutors need to be approved in a subject prior to beginning lessons.

Algebra was my favorite subject in high school. In addition, I took Algebra courses in college as part of the civil engineering degree that I earned.

While working as a civil engineer for 33 years, I applied my algebra skills to solve many practical problems.

I have taught Algebra at a High School and at a Middle School. I scored well in the Algebra Section of the PRAXIS II Mathematics Content Knowledge Test and scored 100% on the WyzAnt Algebra test. I have 5 years experience tutoring Algebra before and after school.

Algebra and Algebra II were my favorite subject in high school. In addition, I took Algebra II courses in college as part of the civil engineering degree that I earned.

I scored 100% on the WyzAnt Geometry test.

Linear algebra involves visualizing in two or more dimensions. I have had a lot of experience applying Linear Algebra concepts in solving practical problems involving systems of equations. In addition I have taken college level Physics, Dynamics, and Statics in which much attention is given to the study of vectors.

I recently passed the PRAXIS II Mathematics Content Knowledge Test which contained problems from the field of Linear Algebra including solving Matrices.

I have taught middle school Mathematics at a middle school in Rockville for the past five years.

Probability and Statistics topics are fun to learn about and to teach. I can easily apply those topics to everyday life for almost any person.

My experiences with Probability and Statistics include, taking college level courses, teaching high school and middle school level courses, using those skills during my 33 year career as a civil engineer, tutoring 8th graders on those topics for taking the High School Placement Tests, and successfully completing the PRAXIS II Mathematics Content Knowledge Test and WyzAnt Probability Test.

I am qualified to tutor in this subject are for several reasons. My educational background includes successful completion in the Dale Carnegie Course on "Effective Communications and Human Relations" in 1985. In that course I was awarded, by my peers, for achievement in public speaking.

I used the principles I learned in that course in my roles as a Senior Leader in the Montgomery County Department of Public Works for the next 20 years. In addition I used/practiced those skills for 2 years as the Associate Director of the office of Youth Ministry for the Archdiocese of Washington, D. C.
