Nya has been an educator for 6+ years. She found her love for education after traveling to Costa Rica to teach English as a foreign language. While receiving her bachelor's degree in elementary education from Morgan State University, Nya was trained in the Orton-Gillingham method to properly teach phonemic awareness and reading to students with Dyslexia.
Since then, Nya has worked in public, charter, and international private school settings with experience in teaching K-6th grade! This year she decided to take a step back from the classroom while she takes intensive Spanish classes and finishes her last year of her education policy master's program at American University. She loves to work with students of all ages, but primary and elementary ages students hold a special place in her heart. Nya has a strong passion for learning herself and believes that educators should act as facilitators of student learning. She looks forward to helping new students along their academic journey!
