I’m currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Bioethics with a Minor in Political Science at Howard University, set to graduate in May 2025. My coursework has provided me with the opportunity to explore subjects such as Technical Writing Pre-Law, Constitutional Law, Classical Ethics, and Sociological Methods, strengthening my communication and analytical skills, which I apply in tutoring.
I’ve been tutoring since 2018, offering one-on-one, personalized instruction in reading, writing, and math for K-12 students through my tutoring service, Anya Walker Tutoring. I collaborate with parents and teachers to assess students’ needs, create lesson plans, and track progress, helping students gain confidence and academic growth.
In 2017, I volunteered as a tutor at the Gwinnett Public Library in Georgia, where I gained valuable experience working with students in various subjects and providing support to help them succeed academically.
From 2022 to 2023, I worked as a Literacy Tutor for Ignite Reading, where I assisted elementary students in improving their reading skills. I worked with students across three schools, creating engaging lessons that fostered reading comprehension and a love of reading.
What drives me in tutoring is the belief that every student is unique, so my teaching methods are tailored to fit individual learning styles. I focus on structured lessons, interactive learning tools, and real-world examples to make concepts easier to understand. My goal is to build students’ confidence, encourage independent thinking, and help them develop problem-solving skills.
I offer virtual tutoring sessions using platforms like Google Meet and Zoom, ensuring an interactive and productive experience. By working closely with parents, teachers, and academic support teams, I ensure students get the best possible support. With my experience, student-centered approach, and commitment to helping students achieve their goals, I’m confident in my ability to make a positive impact.
