Hi, I'm Amy — a credentialed design professional with 15+ years of experience spanning interior design, graphic design, and UX/UI design. I hold the NCIDQ and LEED AP ID+C credentials, and I work daily in Figma and web technologies (HTML, CSS, and JavaScript).

I tutor adults (18+) who are fluent in English and serious about building real, practical design skills. My teaching style is straightforward and experience-driven — I focus on helping you understand foundations before moving into advanced territory, so your skills are solid and transferable.

I teach:
AutoCAD, SketchUp, Figma, Graphic Design, HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Web Design, and Interior Design principles and professional practice including NCIDQ exam preparation.

A few things to know before booking:
SketchUp lessons cover core modeling fundamentals only — Layout and third-party plugins are outside the scope of my instruction. Interior Design lessons focus on design principles, space planning, process, and professional practice — I do not offer interior decorating, architecture, or engineering instruction or training. For software subjects, students must have their own licensed software installed and be prepared to screen share during sessions so I can guide you in your own working environment in real time.

My hourly rate applies to one student per session. Lessons must be scheduled in advance — same-day bookings are not available. Between sessions I am happy to answer questions and provide lesson notes and assignments at no additional charge upon request.

I look forward to working with you!

Best suited for students who have access to AutoCAD and are looking for an experienced professional to help them navigate foundational to intermediate concepts.
CSS

CSS

5+ years of practical CSS experience styling and laying out single-page and small corporate websites. Proficient in Flexbox and responsive design principles, typography, color, and visual hierarchy. 15+ years of professional design experience applying graphic design principles to communicate complex spatial and visual concepts to clients, develop presentation materials, and create portfolio work. Currently practicing UX/UI design with daily use of Figma, including advanced features such as components, auto layout, design tokens, variables, and modes. Currently expanding into React to deepen front-end development skills.
Sketchup

15+ years of professional experience using SketchUp for interior design visualization, space planning, and client presentations. Skilled in 3D modeling, component creation, material application, scenes, and preparing models for client-facing presentations. Currently teaching via screen share where students work in their own software environment with real-time guidance and feedback. Well suited for students in interior design, architecture, or anyone learning 3D modeling for visualization purposes.
Web Design

Web Design

15+ years of professional design experience combined with 5 years of hands-on web design practice building single-page and small corporate websites. Skilled in translating design concepts from Figma into clean, functional HTML/CSS layouts. Background in interior design and graphic design provides a strong foundation in visual hierarchy, composition, color theory, and user-centered thinking that directly informs web design decisions. Able to help students bridge the gap between how something should look and how to actually build it — covering layout, typography, spacing, and responsive design principles.

Super tutor! Highly recommend

Amy taught me the basics very clearly and with demonstrations. She tailored the lesson to what I was seeking; architectural floor plans for small houses. She walked me through the Sketchup basics in that context as we build from a floor plan into a 3D model of the home. I quickly signed up for another lesson.

Patient and attentive Autocad tutor

Since I hadn’t used Autocad in 20 years, I knew what I wanted to draw but forgot how to accomplish it. Amy was so great in how she responded to my inquiries that jumped from topic to topic. I really like how she brought in newer concepts that would be expected of me in current jobs. Her follow up PDFs were so beneficial as they included everything we covered in the session. She’s very knowledgeable about the design industry and is generous in sharing her knowledge. I wish her the best!
