Architecture

Architecture

My interior design experience encompasses all phases of design. Lessons with me can include, but are not limited to: the interior design process, drawing coordination, general terminology, interior lighting, related building codes, and typical practice, including common career paths. However, my lessons are not a substitute for a degree program, experience, or credentials, so most of my students are currently enrolled in a CIDA program and need additional guidance in a particular area of design. Though most of my background is in commercial interiors (business occupancy), I do have some experience in other sectors of design, such as residential, retirement, and hospitality. Also, I have been employed by both boutique and larger design firms. NOTE: Though it is featured here as a subset of Architecture, Interior Design is a distinct profession. Consequently, I do not teach Interior Decorating nor do I provide architectural or engineering training or instruction. Please also visit and review my profile for additional information. Thank you!
AutoCAD

AutoCAD

I am a professional designer with over 20 years of experience using AutoCAD to generate 2D architectural drawings. I consider myself one of the fastest AutoCAD users in the industry, and my peers often seek out my advice regarding this software. If hired as a tutor, the lessons would be tailored to the student's present proficiency with AutoCAD and where he/she would like to advance to. Regardless of the specific lesson, teaching shortcut keys would be included for all students as this is essential to becoming an efficient user of the software (and saving an employer money). Please also visit and review my profile for additional information. Thank you!
Sketchup

Sketchup

I am a professional designer with over 15 years of experience using SketchUp to create digital models and renderings. For rendering, I can guide students who want to learn Enscape, Podium, and/or V-Ray. I consider myself one of the fastest SketchUp users in the industry, and, in the past, my colleagues have sought out my advice regarding this software. If hired as a tutor, the lessons would be tailored to the student's present proficiency with SU and where he/she would like to advance to. Regardless of the specific lesson, teaching shortcut keys would be included for all students as this is essential to becoming an efficient user of the software (and saving an employer money). NOTE: I do not teach Layout. Please also visit and review my profile for additional information. Thank you!

Super tutor! Highly recommend

Amy taught me the basics very clearly and with demonstrations. She tailored the lesson to what I was seeking; architectural floor plans for small houses. She walked me through the Sketchup basics in that context as we build from a floor plan into a 3D model of the home. I quickly signed up for another lesson.

Very knowledgeable and helpful

Amy showed me one of her models and explained how she did it. Also answered to my questions regarding how she did certain things in that model. She was very patient. And she emailed me notes about what all we covered during that lesson and the short keys

Patient and attentive Autocad tutor

Since I hadn’t used Autocad in 20 years, I knew what I wanted to draw but forgot how to accomplish it. Amy was so great in how she responded to my inquiries that jumped from topic to topic. I really like how she brought in newer concepts that would be expected of me in current jobs. Her follow up PDFs were so beneficial as they included everything we covered in the session. She’s very knowledgeable about the design industry and is generous in sharing her knowledge. I wish her the best!
