Hello, I'm David! I'm currently a student attending the University of Maryland in College Park, pursuing a Bachelor of Engineering in Mechanical Engineering. Throughout my college experience so far, I have come to realize that different teaching styles make significant impacts on student performance. Two specific classes I have taken so far include Chemistry for Engineers and Calculus I, and the difference in teaching styles between the professors was notable. While one professor would reject feedback and curiosity, the other was a great listener, able to both walk students through each step and make them laugh along the way. I value the ladder approach because it keeps the student's needs in mind, priortizing actual education over exam results. That is why I do everything I possibly can to gain the attention of my students through creative ways according to each student's needs. Ultimately, the best approach I've found in tutoring students is listening to their struggles and addressing the root misunderstandings, both with grace and interest.

My professional tutoring experience comes from my year at Mathnasium during my senior year of high school. After the vigorous testing Mathnasium tutors had to undergo, I was ready to teach. Within that year, I learned all about the unique needs of each student, especially across different ages. I taught a range of topics from basic addition to calculus. Teaching at Mathnasium taught me how to communicate with different age groups, allowing me to fulfill the needs of all students. I made sure that if a student didn't understand a concept, we would simplify the concept as much as possible until progress was made. Furthermore, despite the struggles that some students faced, I remained patient, as I believe it is absolutely vital to give each student the time they need to think through problems independently without needless stress.

I make sure to respond quickly to any questions or concerns. Questions are greatly appreciated, and feel free to schedule a lesson!
