Welcome to my page! I'm Lily, or Ms. G-S, and I'm a Math Assistant Teaching Professor in Baltimore, MD, with experience in secondary education too! I've been teaching for 7 years and I absolutely love it - helping students conquer their math demons is fun and rewarding.

Welcome to my page! I'm Lily, or Ms. G-S, and I'm a Math Assistant Teaching Professor in Baltimore, MD, with experience in secondary education too! I've been teaching for 7 years and I absolutely love it - helping students conquer their math demons is fun and rewarding.
I was tutoring for almost a decade before I became a teacher. I specialize in the algebra pathway, from pre-algebra through algebra 3 (college algebra), calculus I, geometry, and statistics (basic and AP). With both a bachelors and masters in mathematics, I'm able to provide explanations in a variety of ways and make sure students have attained, and will retain, topics before moving on to the next concept.
Math is a logical, systems based topic; the SAT can seem like randomness, chaos, and totally "out of pocket". With a new outlook and a little practice, the SAT will transform into just an objective, accessible, answerable group of questions. My strategies apply to the Reading, Writing, and Math sections. Despite my primarily math background, I've helped students boost SAT scores by 100-200 points including sizeable growths in the Reading/Writing Sections.

  • Rate details: RATES DIFFER FOR SAT PREP 1 hour session is $125/hour! (But only $225 for a 2 hour session!) Cancellation fee based on no-show or less than 24 hours notice. 15 minutes late charged as no-show.

Whether in person or online, I've taught the high school geometry material you need to learn. I learned through Covid what it takes to really teach geometry, even with constructions, through the screen and face to face. After acing graduate level geometry online, I can confidently say that I'm your star tutor ready for my next star pupil!

I have been tutoring Pre-Algebra privately for fifteen years. Each of my students earned a grade increase of at least one letter grade. I also taught Pre-Algebra to a group of students who experienced severe educational gaps due to COVID-19. Each of those eleven students gained genuine confidence in their abilities to learn math. I am a Professor specializing in teaching Basic Statistics at my university. I am an expert in concepts covered in AP and Introductory Statistics courses taught in high schools and colleges. Statistics don't have to be scary - if you can read and use a calculator, you're halfway there! Work with me and you'll be good to go!
Vocabulary

Vocabulary

I've always loved learning vocabulary and have acquired a taste for literary precision. I help students focus on context clues, core roots (etymology) of words, and mnemonics to internalize and retain challenging vocabulary. Words are the way we express and understand the world around us and I love opening students to the wonderful world of words.
