About Petros

Bio

Hello and welcome to my page,

I have been teaching various levels of Physics and Mathematics for over 15 years, and recently at a number of local colleges such as NOVA and Montgomery College. As faculty, I taught my students general physics at Quantum College in Armenia, as well as applied nuclear physics at Yerevan State University and at Yerevan State Engineering University. Hello and welcome to my page,

I have been teaching various levels of Physics and Mathematics for over 15 years, and recently at a number of local colleges such as NOVA and Montgomery College. As faculty, I taught my students general physics at Quantum College in Armenia, as well as applied nuclear physics at Yerevan State University and at Yerevan State Engineering University. Alongside, I always enjoyed tutoring and have been helping school students (4, 10, 11 and 12 grades) and university entrants with Physics and Math throughout my career path. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife and grandchildren and try to keep up with my workout and swimming regimen.

Through my experience I realized that collaborative approach is the key to success and contributes greatly to the improvement of the learner’s knowledge level. My inclusive methodology, allows parents and learners engage in the process of development, and together observe the results. Additionally, the feedback allows me to continuously enhance the effectiveness of the tutoring process, thus tailoring it to a particular learning style and the student. Aside from the actual lesson, I offer monitoring of the student’s daily homework by email and provide related content to help prepare for quizzes and unit exams. Our first meeting is usually focused on getting to know the level of learner’s knowledge, goals and expectations for improvement. To help facilitate the discussion, I also often discuss state and county requirements for certain grades and subjects (e.g. MD High school standards).
Through this methodology, the student can gain amplified results that go beyond a particular subject (physics, math, etc.).This time proven approach creates an opportunity to gain better learning skills, improve self-confidence and motivation in and out of school.
I am looking forward to helping my students reach higher grounds in their educational goals.

A Happy Return Customer

After a summer break, my son resumed regular physics tutoring sessions with professor H. Last semester it was "Mechanics". This semester it's a very challenging "Electricity and magnetism" (PHYS 262). My son appreciates how Petros explains every concept and problem closely following the material they are learning in college at that particular time, how everythings becomes clear and easier to comprehend/learn.

Extremely knowledgeable and very perceptive of my comprehension.

Professor H taught me about magnetic field lines and magnetic flux. I was really having trouble to understand these concepts in application on my own. It was amazing how fast he made it click in my brain. He has a vast range of experience of pull from to make it relate to me. I wish all my teachers were like him. Thanks Professor H!

Knowledgeable tutor

Professor H responded to my message asking for help for a college-level physics lab very fast. He was very easy to talk to. When the session started, he went over basic physics concepts that were needed to complete the lab, and then went over the lab step and step, with equations and explanation. At the end of the session, as I was still a little confused on a certain topic, he took his time to explain it again, making sure I understood. After the session, he sent me all the materials he used in the session. He was very prepared and knowledgeable in the subject.
