Hello, and thank you for taking the time to view my profile. I hold a master’s degree in Reading Specialization and have spent decades supporting elementary students who struggle with reading, including those with learning differences, IEPs, and attention or processing challenges. My background includes classroom instruction, one-on-one tutoring, and leadership in special education, including serving as an Assistant Director of Special Education for DC Public Schools. Throughout my career, I have worked closely with students who need explicit, patient, and structured reading instruction in order to build both skill and confidence.

As a tutor, I believe that reading difficulties often affect more than academics—they can impact a child’s confidence, motivation, and emotional well-being. My approach is calm, supportive, and individualized, with a focus on meeting students where they are while helping them make steady, meaningful progress. I provide structured reading instruction that targets foundational skills such as decoding, fluency, comprehension, and vocabulary, while also being mindful of each child’s learning style and emotional needs. My goal is to help students not only improve as readers but also begin to see themselves as capable and confident learners. I value communication and partnership with parents and strive to create a learning environment where students feel safe, supported, and encouraged to grow.
